Richard “Ricky” Bush is the author of the Crime Fighting Bluesmen series: River Bottom Blues (Book 1), The Devil’s Blues (Book 2) and Howling Mountain Blues (Book 3) for Barking Rain Press. Ricky has been reading about, writing about and playing the blues for most of his adult life. His articles have highlighted the careers of blues musicians in magazines such as Blues Access, Hittin’ the Note, Southwest Blues and the American Harmonica Newsmagazine. He has written many record reviews and brings his view of the blues to readers at his blog, Bush Dog Blues.
Ricky spent twenty-nine years teaching Texas high school students journalism, world geography, and English. His love of blues and writing fiction met at the crossroads with the publication of River Bottom Blues, followed by The Devil’s Blues. He is a member of Sisters in Crime, Mystery Writers of America, International Thriller Writers, and Crime Writers Association.
Richard hangs his hat in his self-built log home in rural Texas, where he and his wife, Virginia, raised two daughters and a son. He can occasionally be coaxed into assisting with the small family oil and gas operation that they helped build. When he’s not applying his fingers to the keyboard, he puts a harmonica to his lips and practices what he preaches by blowing the blues.
